My name is Scott Ziter and I was recently elected as the President of Clifton Park Baseball for the 2018 season. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity. This will be my third year on the board and most recently I’ve held the position of Cal Ripken Commissioner. My son, Sam is seven years old and has played in the CPBL since starting T-Ball three years ago. I’ve also had the opportunity to coach Sam and many other great kids during these past few years. My wife, Stephanie and daughter, Sophie spend a lot of time at the fields cheering on Sam and his teammates. We love the game of baseball! If you see someone wearing Baltimore Orioles apparel around town or at the fields, they’re probably a member of the Ziter family. Yes, we know we’re outnumbered in Yankees and Mets country.
I’ve been given this opportunity due to Bill Bishop resigning from this role. Bill and his family have been part of Clifton Park Baseball since his son, Matt started playing as a youngster. Bill volunteered his time on the Board and coached throughout Matt’s time in the league. Bill and his wife, Erin will now be watching Matt play as a senior on the Shen Baseball team. On behalf of the CPBL Board, I would like to thank Bill for everything he’s done over the years and most importantly for leaving us in a very good place as a league.
I would also like to recognize Nikki Mulligan, VP of Administration, who like Bill resigned her position after many years of volunteering countless hours for the CPBL. Nikki will also continue to cheer on her older son who plays for Shen Baseball and her younger son who plays in the CPBL. Nikki is one of the most dedicated individuals associated with Clifton Park Baseball and did an awesome job representing the league in her role. She always had the best interest of the kids during any discussion. Thanks Nikki, you will be missed and I know you won’t be a stranger.
I’m very fortunate to be surrounded by such a great group of individuals on the Board. Each and every board member is passionate about their role and strives to do the best they can to make Clifton Park Baseball a first class community organization. It’s important to recognize that each board member, all the coaches and many parents volunteer a great deal of their personal time to make baseball a reality for the kids.
We will be working on many new initiatives during the off season to ensure that the 2018 season is something that your children will not forget. As Bill Bishop shared in his last communication, the Board listened to your feedback on ways to improve the league and its programs. As a result, the following committees were formed (1) Growth of the league-registration process, (2) Revamp Meet Your Coach Night, (3) Opening Day Activities and (4) Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken Recreational and Travel program changes. The members of the committees will work diligently to enhance these areas. I would ask that you reach out to me if you’re interested in joining one of these committees or if you have any other ideas that should be considered.
We recently voted in the 2018 Board members (Voting Board Positions) and are still looking to fill the following role:
In addition, we will be voting in Activity/Division Directors at our upcoming Board meeting on Monday, December 11, 2017.
If you’re interested in any of the following positions, please email me no later than Friday, December 8, 2017.
4/5 year old Division Director
6/7 year old Division Director
8 year old Division Director
9 year old Division Director
10 year old Division Director
11 year old Division Director
12 year old Division Director
Social Media Coordinator
Travel Uniforms (12u and under)
Please take some time to consider stepping up to volunteer for one of these positions or when the season begins to help out by being a head or an assistant coach. It is very important to note that the Board is heavily represented by parents whose children are in the older divisions. I’m asking that parents in the younger divisions consider to get more involved as we will be responsible to keep the league moving forward when some of the board members move on as their children get older.
Please look for future communications from the league as information about winter workouts will be coming soon.
Again, I’m looking forward to a great season and can’t wait to meet new people throughout the year.
I hope to see you at the upcoming board meeting on December 11, 2017. More details to follow.
The CPBL Board would like to wish you and your family a Happy Holiday season. Relax and enjoy!
